With the evolution of lighting technology to the direction of high efficiency, lightweight and high temperature resistance, molybdenum foil has gradually become one of the core materials of high-end lighting products with its unique physical properties. From high-power LED cooling substrates to heat-resistant components for specialty lighting, molybdenum foil applications are reshaping industry standards.

First, the core characteristics of molybdenum foil and lighting industry adaptation
Molybdenum is a rare metal with high melting point (2623℃) and low thermal expansion coefficient (4.8×10-6/K). Its thermal conductivity (138 W/m·K) is significantly better than that of stainless steel (15 W/m·K) and aluminum alloy (200 W/m·K). Molybdenum foil (thickness 0.02-0.5mm) made by precision rolling process has excellent mechanical strength and flexibility, which can meet the long-term stability needs of lighting equipment in high temperature, high-frequency vibration and complex environment.

Second, the core application scenario of moly foil in the lighting industry
1. High power LED cooling substrate
High-power LED chips will generate a lot of heat at work (such as 100W LED junction temperature can reach more than 150℃), and the traditional aluminum substrate is easy to crack due to the difference in the coefficient of thermal expansion. The application of high thermal conductivity molybdenum foil LED is optimized by the following ways: as the middle layer of the composite substrate, the thermal conductivity of molybdenum foil can improve the overall heat dissipation efficiency by more than 30%; Its low coefficient of thermal expansion (close to aluminum nitride ceramics) can reduce thermal stress and extend LED life to more than 50,000 hours.

2. High temperature resistant components of automotive lighting system
In automotive headlights (such as matrix LED or laser headlights), molybdenum strip is mainly used in two major scenarios: reflector coating substrate: molybdenum foil surface after aluminum plated to form a high reflectivity (> 95%) mirror, temperature resistance of up to 800℃, far beyond the traditional plastic reflector (temperature resistance of only 150℃); Drive circuit heat sink: the temperature of the drive chip is controlled below 85℃ by molybdenum foil heat sink to avoid light decay.

3. Electrode materials for HID lamps and special lighting
The electrode of high intensity gas discharge lamp (HID lamp) needs to work stably under 3000K high temperature arc. Moly strip is an ideal electrode substrate by the following design: the helical electrode structure is made to increase the emission area and reduce the lighting voltage; The surface is coated with rare earth oxides (such as lanthanum oxide) to improve electron emission efficiency and extend the lamp life to 20,000 hours.

4. Structural support parts for industrial and stage lighting
In high temperature scenes such as stage spotlights and searchlights, molybdenum foil is processed into thin-wall brackets or heat fins, and its high temperature resistance can avoid the creep deformation problems of traditional metals such as steel. For example, the reflection cup bracket of 1000W halogen lamp uses 0.1mm molybdenum foil, and the temperature resistance is increased to 600℃; Molybdenum strip honeycomb structure radiator can reduce the surface temperature of the lamp by more than 40℃.

Mosten Alloy can produce molybdenum sheet, molybdenum block, molybdenum foil, molybdenum rod, molybdenum wire, molybdenum cup, molybdenum processing workpiece according to customer demand.
