Molybdenum Rhenium Alloys
Rhenium has a high melting point of 3170℃. It owns high density of 21.02g/cm3, and also it has the property of high strength and good plasticity. These characteristics make it have the great advantages in the development of Mo-Re alloy.
The tensile strength of pure molybdenum at room temperature is about 650MPa, while the tensile strength of molybdenum-rhenium alloy with high rhenium can reach more than 1000MPa.
The production process of Molybdenum rhenium alloy includes the below two parts:
1. Preparation of molybdenum-rhenium alloy blank
2. Pressure processing of molybdenum-rhenium alloy billet
The pressed and sintered molybdenum rhenium alloys billet can be used to produce rod and wire. They will be machined by rotary forging and drawing. And the MoRe alloys billet can also be rolled into sheet or foil by multi-step cold rolling.
Usually, when the rhenium content is above 5%, the hardness of the Mo-Re alloys will increase with the increase of rhenium content. The hardness of Mo-41Re alloy is 60% higher than that of pure molybdenum. And the strength is 75% higher than pure molybdenum. At the same time, the elongation can reach 7%.
