With the development of glass industry technology, the purity of molybdenum electrode, especially for glass fiber industry, has been put forward higher and higher requirements. The quality of molybdenum electrode will affect the quality of glass production and its service life, on the one hand, impurities will reduce the conductivity of molybdenum electrode, increase the consumption of electrode power, shorten the service life; On the other hand, C, N, O and other gas content will cause bubbles in the glass liquid, and Ti, Ni, Cu, Cd and other metals will color the glass and affect the quality of the glass. Therefore, the purity of the molybdenum electrode is crucial to the continuity of glass production, the quality of glass products, and the efficiency of glass production.
At present, there are two methods for producing high purity molybdenum electrodes, namely melting method and powder metallurgy method. Molybdenum electrode produced by melting method has high purity, low gas content such as N and O, and can reach less than 10ppm level. Molybdenum electrode prepared by powder metallurgy method has low cost.
