Molybdenum has many advantages, such as high melting point and boiling point, good high temperature strength, friction and corrosion resistance, large thermal conductivity, small thermal expansion coefficient, good hardenability, etc., which make it widely used in aerospace, weapons, electronics, chemical and other fields.

Recovered satellites must overcome thermal scouring when they re-enter the atmosphere. Therefore, it is required to withstand the environment of vibration, shock, vacuum, radiation and temperature alternation. Molybdenum alloy is commonly used to make the skin of the stabilization skirt of the satellite recovery capsule. TZM molybdenum alloy is also used to make the nozzle of solid fuel rocket engine of space rocket or space shuttle, nose cone of rocket, leading edge of aircraft, rudder, heat shield, honeycomb structure and so on.

Molybdenum chemical products account for about 10% of the total consumption of molybdenum, of which about half is used as lubricants, followed by catalysts, pigments, corrosion prevention agents, reagents, etc.

1) Lubricant: high purity molybdenum disulfide powder to adapt to a wide range of temperature, heavy load resistance, direct air resistance, radiation protection......Such advantages as the king of solid lubrication and widely used.

2) Catalyst: Molybdenum compound is one of the most widely used catalysts known as early as 1910, British Badishe published the patent of molybdenum compound used as catalyst for ammonia synthesis process. Up to now, it is still widely used in ammonia synthesis industry as catalyst for hydrogenation and desulfurization of gas and oil.

3) Pigments: chromium yellow and cadmium yellow are the most commonly used inorganic yellow pigments in the world today. Lead, chromium and cadmium are all highly toxic. The development of non-toxic pigments is very important in the appeal of environmental protection.

4) Trace chemical fertilizers: plant organisms are composed of more than 60 elements. Nitrogen, phosphine and potassium are the three major fertilizers in plants. The elements boron, manganese, zinc, copper, cobalt, molybdenum and iodine with very little content are called the seven micronutrient elements and begin to attract people's attention.

5) Others: black molybdenum film for solar energy conversion dark mirror. For efficient photothermal solar conversion, high solar absorption rate and high infrared reflectivity are required to match, and black molybdenum film is the best material at present.
