Tungsten-Molybdenum alloy
A combination of gold containing 5% Tungsten, 20% Tungsten, 30% Tungsten, 50% Tungsten, 75% Tungsten and the remainder Molybdenum.
It is made into sheet, bar or wire of various specifications by electron beam melting or powder metallurgy.
Compared with pure metal Tungsten or Molybdenum, Tungsten-Molybdenum alloy has high hardness, high resistance, higher melting point than Molybdenum, but has similar toughness and other advantages.
The Tungsten-Molybdenum alloy containing 25% Molybdenum can be paired with pure Tungsten to form a thermocouple, which can measure the high temperature of 1200 ~ 2000℃.
Tungsten molybdenum alloy wire is commonly used as wire for EDM wire cutting and hot wire, cathode filament and lead wire in electric vacuum devices. Mo-30W alloy has good corrosion resistance to molten zinc and is used in zinc production industry.
