Tungsten alloy is an alloy with tungsten as the main raw material and silver, copper, iron, nickel, molybdenum and other metal elements as auxiliary materials. The reason why the tungsten alloy should be added in the production of the appropriate amount of metal silver, because the silver element can improve the overall quality of the product, and the product produced, can also be called silver tungsten alloy.

(1) Defining aspects

It is a pseudo-alloy/binary alloy consisting of silver and tungsten. In general, the silver content is between 20% and 70%, and the tungsten content is between 30% and 80%.Due to the different proportions of silver and tungsten, the alloy grades are: AGW30, AGW40, AGW50, AGW55, AGW60, AGW65, AGW70, AGW75, AGW80, AGW85.

(2) Nature

Its color is silver, with high melting point, high strength, high hardness, good welding resistance, strong adhesion resistance, excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, easy processing and other characteristics. However, as the tungsten content increases, the alloy's hardness and weldability decrease.

(3) Production technology

Because the melting points of tungsten and silver are very different, they are not mutually soluble either in liquid or solid state, which means that it cannot be produced by traditional methods, usually by powder metallurgy.

Preparation method of silver tungsten contact material: silver powder and tungsten powder are mixed, and then the obtained mixed powder, high purity nickel ball and water are placed in the ball mill for ball grinding, the ball grinding of the mixed powder after drying, annealing, molding, melting and permeability treatment, can get the product. The product obtained by this method has the characteristics of uniform structure, high density and low resistivity.

The preparation method of the silver-tungsten composite material: the tungsten mixture containing the molding agent and the surface modification is pressed into the blank, and then the silver and the blank are fused and sintered together, and then the product can be obtained after a series of treatment.

Silver tungsten material has good electrical conductivity, welding resistance and corrosion resistance, and is widely used in circuit breakers, power switches, heavy-duty relays, high-temperature resistant materials, sports equipment and other industries.
